Billy Bob Thornton, Mark Collie throw a big party during music video shoot in Birmingham
According to Billy Bob Thornton, he and singer Mark Collie have written the only song ever to contain a nod to the Southern delicacy souse meat.
“This is probably the only song written that has the word ‘souse’ in it,” he told the crowd at Workplay while shooting live performance shots for a video for the song called “Raisin’ Cain.”
Thornton, the rest of his Boxmasters bandmates and Collie shot scenes for the video at the concert venue and the Helena City Hall on Wednesday Dec. 3.
“It’s got the sort of rustic look, the downtown area here, that’s perfect for what we’re looking for,” said Thornton of Helena. “We’re doing our performance part of the video at Workplay, which is an amazing venue that we’ve all been to before.”
Thornton said he was hoping for an upbeat vibe to match the lighthearted nature of the song, which Collie describes as a song about “the consequences of bad behavior.”
Thornton said he hoped for a party atmosphere at Workplay.
“We’re looking forward to just hanging out together with the people,” he said. “We’ll make it real loose. In other words with the crowd that comes out it’s not going to be like here are these guys doing this thing and we’re separate from them. It’s just going to be a big party shooting this video.”
And that it was.
